Ingredients
For the Concentrate
8black tea bags
2cupwaterfor steeping
2tablespoonsweetener of choiceoptional, sugar or honey
1wheellemonfor garnish
1sprigfresh mintfor garnish, optional
Instructions
Brew the Concentrate
Bring the water to a boil.
Remove from heat, add the tea bags, and steep 5 to 7 minutes.
Squeeze and discard the tea bags.
Stir in sweetener while the tea is still hot, if using.
Cool and Store
Let the concentrate cool to room temperature.
Transfer to a glass jar and refrigerate until cold.
For each glass, combine 1 part concentrate with 3 parts cold water or ice.
Garnish with a lemon wheel and mint, then serve.
Notes
Use fewer tea bags for strength, not a longer steep -- over-steeping pulls out more tannins and makes the concentrate bitter even after dilution. Store covered in the refrigerator up to 5 to 7 days. Green tea concentrate is more delicate and best used within 2 to 3 days.
