Salt Water Flush Recipe

The traditional salt water flush recipe: roughly one tablespoon of non-iodized salt dissolved in a quart of warm water, drunk quickly on an empty stomach. Used as a laxative during fasts — carries a real, documented sodium-overload risk at higher or repeated doses, not appropriate for everyone.

Equipment

  • 1 1-gallon punch bowl or glass beverage dispenser or any large glass jug
  • 1 Spoon for stirring

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon sea salt non-iodized — not table salt
  • 1 quart warm water 32 oz

Instructions

  • Stir the salt into the warm water until fully dissolved.
  • Drink the full quart on an empty stomach, within a few minutes. Stay near a bathroom for the next hour or two.

Notes

Carries a real risk of hypernatremia (sodium overload) at higher or repeated doses. Not for anyone with kidney disease, heart conditions, high blood pressure, or on a sodium-restricted diet — check with a doctor first.
